The Albemarle Police have charged Gerrius Antoine Davis in the hit and run fatality on Jan 19.
The victim, Daniel Brown, 12, was riding a razor scooter on Leonard Avenue when he was struck by a dark-colored vehicle with tinted windows that left the scene.
After several news stories were reported, the police department began to receive various reports of vehicles similar to the description.
On Jan. 23, a call identified the possible vehicle. Last Friday evening, officers of the Albemarle Police Department and Stanly County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence on Gold Hill Road and found the vehicle, a black 1991 Lexus, being repaired in a building behind a residence.
On Monday, officers of the Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation charged Davis, 27, of 290 Lowder St., Albemarle, with one count of felonious hit and run and one count of obstruction of justice. Davis was released on $10,000 bond.
