417 students awarded degrees from WCU

Western Carolina University conferred degrees on 417 students who completed their studies during summer 2009 .
A total of 170 undergraduate students received academic honors, with 103 graduating summa cum laude (with highest honors), 46 graduating magna cum laude (with high honors) and 21 graduating cum laude (with honors).
Rowan County: Katherine Michelle Crosby, Kannapolis, master of physical therapy; Nicole Marie Rollings, Landis, bachelor of science, recreational therapy; Natosha Shalonda Hendrick, Salisbury. bachelor of science, criminal justice; Bethany Lauren McClintock, Salisbury, bachelor of science, recreational therapy; Jesse James Standard, Salisbury, bachelor of science in business administration, computer information systems.
Cabarrus County: Jessica Nicole Grant, Concord, master of school administration; Kimberly Smith Greene, Kannapolis, master of school administration; Mitchell Wayne Hatley, Mount Pleasant, bachelor of science, construction management.
Davie County: Kurtis Wayne Bivins, Mocksville, bachelor of science, parks and recreation management.
Iredell County: Ian Shaw Reece, Mooresville, bachelor of science, communication.
