107 area athletes qualify for state Senior Games

Rowan County Parks and Recreation reports that 107 area athletes have qualified for the North Carolina Senior Games State Finals after award-winning performances at the Salisbury-Rowan Senior Games.
This was the best year yet in the number of competitors with 243 athletes in 57 events, four softball teams and one three-on-three basketball team with games yet to come, according to Senior Games Coordinator Phyllis Loflin-Kluttz.
A new event was the cycling competition at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Six counties, including Rowan, brought together 78 senior cyclists.
Here were the men and women winning gold, silver or bronze medals at the Salisbury-Rowan Senior Games:
