The Easter Egg Roll on the White House lawn in Washington, D.C., might be more famous, but not any more fun for kids in Kannapolis than the event scheduled Saturday, April 11 when 10,000 plastic eggs will be dropped on the Forest Park Elementary School athletic field.
The Helicopter Easter Egg Drop begins at 11 a.m. Saturday with inflatable rides, slides, music, hot dogs and drinks, all free, sponsored by High Rock Community Church of Kannapolis.
A helicopter will fly over the Forest Park athletic field between 1 and 1:30 p.m., dropping 10,000 plastic eggs containing toys and candy. There will also be 25 eggs with certificates for special prizes including grocery store gift cards, gas cards and dinner for four at O’Charley’s.
Additionally, 25 winners will have the opportunity to register for three grand prizes ó a 32-inch plasma TV, a $200 grocery card and an X-Box 360 video game ó to be given away before the Easter service at the Kannapolis church on Sunday morning.
High Rock Community Church in Kannapolis meets Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Forest Park Elementary School building. The services are led by its pastor, Brian Duncan. Duncan, in a press release, said, “The purpose of the Helicopter Easter Egg Drop is to help the community become more aware of the church that was started on Easter 2008 and will celebrate its one year anniversary.”
“We hope an event such as the Easter Egg Drop helps people become aware of the church and check out the relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere of the church.”
