East rifle team

The East Rowan High School Rifle team participated in a six-county rifle meet Nov. 7 at South Rowan High School.
East’s A-team for the third time in a row took first place; South Rowan’s A-team took second place; and West Iredell’s A-team took third place.
Highest shooter trophies went to:
– East A-team ó Franklin Wright, 267 out of 300;
– East B-team ó Joseph Scrip, 230 out of 300; and
– East C-team ó David Harwood, 220 out of 300.
Highest shooter in each position went to:
– Top Prone ó Derrick Thompson, 94 out of 100;
– Top Kneeling and Standing ó Franklin Wright, 93 and 83 out of 100, respectively.
Two of East’s A-team shooters took trophies for highest overall scores. Derrick Thompson was third place overall with 254 out of 300, and Franklin Wright was first place, with 267 out of 300.
