Virginia Union linebacker Hurley “Tre” Hemphill (NW Cabarrus) is also in the contest.

n Catawba men
Catawba fought back from a 16-point first-half deficit, but squandered a nine point edge with just over five minutes and lost an in overtime to Barry 86-81 at the NSU Thanksgiving Classic at Nova Southeastern’s University Center.
Catawba placed all five starters in double figures for the second straight game with Dominick Reid scoring a team-high 16 points. Donald Rutherford had 14 points and nine rebounds, while Houston had a dozen points, but was only 3-for-10 shooting and 1-for-6 from three-point range. Donzell Williams (Salem, VA/Glenvar HS) and Rob Fields (Orangeburg, SC/Orangeburg-Wilkerson HS) each had 11 points with Williams adding nine boards.
n Catawba women
Lander (2-0) rallied from a 14-point first half deficit to score a 77-68 win over the host Catawba women Friday at the Comfort Suites Classic.
Catawba (2-2) was led by Dana Hicks, who posted her third straight double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing a dozen rebounds. Brooke Whitley tossed in a game-high 17 points, hitting five three-pointers. Nisha Long added 15 and Milica Ivanovic 10 point.
