Livingstone’s women’s basketball team won the championship of the Lincoln Invitational with a 78-71 win against Concordia on Monday.
Senior Kayler McBride was named tournament MVP.
McBride totaled 21 points and six rebounds in the title game. Junior guard Montiya Harrison added 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and had seven rebounds.
Livingstone shot 27.5 percent from the field but beat Concordia 58-47 on the boards.
Livingstone plays at home on Saturday against Elizabeth City State.
– Pfeiffer women
Pfeiffer’s women’s basketball team lost to Wingate 61-45 in the Queen City Classic on Monday.
Jamila Harris paced the Falcons (0-2) with 11 points.
– SAC volleyball
Wingate won the SAC volleyball tournament and is the top seed and host team for the Southeast Regional that will be held Friday through Sunday.
Catawba (17-11) is the No. 5 seed and takes on SAC tournament runner-up and No. 4 seed Carson-Newman (22-9) in the first round.
SAC Freshman of the Year Kaitlyn Whitmer will be one of the leaders for the Indians.
Wingate (34-1) plays No. 8 seed Tusculum in the first round.
– Hole-in-one
Dale Cook made a hole-in-one on the No. 3 hole at Warrior on Sunday.
Cook used a 5-iron on the 138-yard hole. He was playing with Larry Cook, Michael Cook and Billy Strong.
Cindy Cook also witnessed the feat.
– GARS outing
Sixty-three GARS members played at Crescent Golf Club on Monday.
Low ‘A’ Flight player was Tom Talbert with a net of 66.59. Low ‘B’ player was Tony LaBarbera with a net of 70.87. Low ‘C’ player was Bill Griffith with a net of 67.28. Low ‘D’ player was Bobby Eudy with a net of 71.27.
n Bill Bradley won the ‘B’ Flight with a net of 69.27 on Nov. 9.
– Spencer Little League
Spencer Little League will hold its annual meeting this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Spencer Town Hall on 6th Street.
This is an important meeting that concerns the status of the league and the upcoming season and is designed for open discussion.
Topics will include building more interest in the league’s baseball and softball programs, a financial presentation and election of new members of the Board of Directors, as well as upcoming projects at the ballpark.

– Stallions hoops
The Cabarrus-Rowan Home School Stallions swept a doubleheader from Comenius on Monday night.
The girls improved to 3-1 with a 56-15 win. Hannah Holm scored 25 points to lead the Stallions. Ruth Ann Thomas, Becca Bare and Alyssa Herndon had eight each.
The Stallion boys (2-2) won 82-41. James Dare and Randy Hampton led the way with 19 each. Mike Phillips had 16. Jason Long scored 12.
– Sacred Heart tournament
Sacred Heart’s boys basketball team rallied from an 11-point deficit to beat Salisbury Academy 43-42 in the championship game of the Sacred Heart Tip Off Tournament played at the Boyd Dolphin Tank.
Eric Edwards hit two foul shots with four seconds left for the decisive points. Edwards had 14 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Banks Fisher had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Bobby Cardelle’s steals fueled the comeback.
Jon Mark Petty scored 17 points to lead the Jaguars. Lucas Capito had 10 points, while Coleman Bergsma had nine. Edwards, Fisher, Cardelle, Petty, Capito and Darrell Larson of the third-place Rowan-Cabarrus Home Educators Stallions made all-tourney.
Sacred Heart defeated Forsyth Country Day 39-11 in the first round. Fisher scored 17 points. Edwards had 10 points and five assists. Spencer Storey had four steals.
* Salisbury Academy topped Sacred Heart 16-15 in the girls championship game. Isabella Rusher scored six points for SA. Maggie Habeeb had seven for the Dolphins.
The all-tournament team was Allison Voncannon of third-place North Hills, Adair Sheppard of Forsyth Country Day, Sacred Heart’s Habeeb and Anna Tonseth and Salisbury Academy’s Alexandra Drye and Madeline Hoskins.
* Sacred Heart won the jayvee girls tournament with a 14-10 decision against North Hills.
All-tournament players were Sacred Heart’s Anna Habeeb and Katie Leonguero, North Hills’ Ashley Wood and Madison NeeSmith, Salisbury Academy’s Emily Capito and third-place Covenant’s Maggie Beal.
* Conover Concordia Lutheran rolled 37-16 against Sacred Heart to win the jayvee boys championship. The all-tourney team consisted of Concordia’s John Walker and Hayes Elliot, Sacred Heart’s Michael Childress and Joseph Harrison, Stallion Austin Lilly and third-place Salisbury Academy’s Jacob Crosby.
