They call it the Highway 52 Shootout and that’s exactly what it should be as Catawba, Livingstone and Pfeiffer get under way tonight at Pfeiffer in the inaugural tournament.
Teams are expected to rotate as the host with that school providing the fourth team.
Pfeiffer’s Dave Davis recruited Cheyney State to join in on the fun.
The first game between Catawba and Livingstone begins at 5 p.m., with Pfeiffer taking on Cheyney State at 7.
Catawba’s Jim Baker is looking forward to it.
“It’s good for the fans,” he said. “I’ll be interested to see how the fans take to it. It’s pretty neat. When they first came to me about it, I said if they get Livingstone to sign on, we’ll sign on.”
Next season will be at Catawba and the following year at Livingstone.
