Prep golf: West's Knepp claims NPC individual title

West Rowan’s Katie Knepp claimed medalist honors at the NPC championship match and won the season-long individual race, but the Falcons dropped from first to second in the team standings Tuesday.West took a two-stroke lead into the 18-hole event at Statesville Country Club, and league rival Statesville shot a 288. The Falcons had a 291, meaning the Greyhounds won the season-long team race by one stroke.
Knepp held the individual lead and increased her cushion with an 88. West teammate Alex Mills fired a 97.
Samantha Haviland had a 101 to lead third-place East Rowan. Courtney Barbee represented South Rowan as an individual and posted a 104. West’s Ashlynn Perry shot 106.
