Game notes: It’s the SPC opener for both teams and doesn’t figure to be much of a contest.
Robinson hasn’t impressed in losses to Piedmont, South Rowan and Carson after opening the season with a romp over Cuthbertson, a new school.
Quarterback Robert Cloninger provides most of Robinson’s offense, but he was knocked out of action in the Carson game.
A.L. Brown finished a challenging pre-conference run with a 3-1 mark and is the favorite to win the SPC.
The Wonders have been much better than anticipated on offense, even though they didn’t pass well last week.
The Wonders are rushing for 279.5 yards and scoring 36 points per game. Robinson allowed 186 rushing yards to Carson, so the Wonders should have their way upfront.
Travis Riley has rushed for 623 yards on 69 carries and scored 13 touchdowns.
Defensively, Brown has not been as good as advertised. The Wonders have permitted more than 300 yards and 22.5 points per game.
Defensive back Ladrian Black made his second interception last week and scored a touchdown, and linebacker Desmond Gray recovered a fumble.
The Wonders should improve on their defensive numbers tonight. Robinson turned the ball over four times against Carson.
