Cross country: Shields twins push SHS to front in 4-team meet

Salisbury’s girls cross country team won a CCC meet also involving West Davidson, Central Davidson and Thomasville on Thursday.
Katherine Shields was Salisbury’s top finisher with a time of 20 minutes, 8 seconds. Emily Shields, Katherine’s sister, was next with a 20:50.
Karen Presnell (22:40), Jenna Bryan (23:02) and Margaret Kaufmann (25:21) also scored for the Hornets.
In the boys race, Salisbury’s Nick Summers was first individually with a personal-best time of 16:43. SHS teammate Philip Tonseth, placed second overall in 17:11.
Cody Burns (17:30) led Central to a first-place showing.
