Game notes: West senior K.P. Parks’ three previous games against Northwest would be a nice career for a lot of backs. He’s carried 87 times for 677 yards and 11 TDs. In his sophomore year, Parks rolled for a school-record 339 rushing yards. His six TDs that night tied a county record.Davon Quarles is part of a rebuilt offensive line that paves the way for Parks, who had 228 yards and five TDs in the first half against Central Cabarrus opening night. Parks’ latest career numbers รณ 980 carries, 7,349 rushing yards, 104 total TDs.
After being a league rival of the Falcons the past 12 seasons, Northwest is now in the SPC. QB Jeremy Cannon is healthy after missing his junior season with a torn ACL. As a soph, he threw for 243 yards and rushed for 60 against West. Grant Keyes, also a stellar DB, had seven catches for 169 yards last week as Cannon threw for 242 yards.
“He’s good, and he looks healthy,” West coach Scott Young said. “He ran well and threw well and looked like he was in complete control of the offense.”
West linebacker Josh Poe and his mates aren’t used to giving up much. West posted four shutouts last year and opened this season with one.
Under Young, Westis 7-4 against the Trojans.
