Waterworks announces new class schedule

Session 1
The following classes meet 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 22, 29, Oct. 6, 13, 20, and 27.- Life Drawing I ó Ages 18 through adult. For beginners as well as repeat students, this class will offer professional instruction in drawing from life. Students will draw from nude models. Call Waterworks for a materials list before the first class.
Instructor: Don Moore; $100 member/$120 non-member
– Wheel Pottery ó Ages 14 through adult. Learn the basics of throwing pots on the wheel. This clay class is for beginners as well as those who wish to expand their pottery wheel skills. All materials included. Class is limited to 8 students.
Instructor: Brenda Gariepy; $100 member/$120 non-member
– Digital SLR Photography Ages 14 through adult ó For beginning students and those who want to sharpen their skills. This class will cover basic photography techniques, including shutter speed, aperture settings for exposure and effects, composition, and gadgets and accessories. Bring your digital SLR camera, owners manual, pen, and notepad. Beginner and intermediate levels.

– Capture Attention with Color ó Ages 14 through adult. Color will be the cornerstone of this painting class. Learn how to grab the eyes of the viewer by strategic use of color. Discover other techniques that will make a painting “sing.” Bring your oils, pastels, or acrylics. All skill levels, beginner to advanced. Instructor: Phyllis Steimel. $75 member/$90 non-member
– Clay Sculptures ó Ages 14 through adult. Artist Robert Toth will demonstrate the techniques of three dimensional clay sculptures and guide students in creating pet sculptures, plaques, and masks. Students will also complete a figure study from a live model and learn about firing and patina finishes. All skill levels welcome. All clay fees included.

– After-school drawing workshop, grades 3 through 8 ó 3:30-5:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 24, Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. For children with beginning and intermediate skill levels, artist Ray Moose will teach the important techniques of drawing 3-dimensional objects in pencil and charcoal. Students will learn about composition, perspective, light, and shadow. $75 per person for 6 week series

For beginners as well as repeat students, this class will offer professional instruction in drawing from life. Students will draw from nude models. – Portrait Drawing ó Ages 14 through adult. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Nov 5, 12, 19, Dec 3, 10, and 17. For beginning and intermediate students who wish to improve their skills. Participants will study the techniques for drawing human faces and figures using a variety of media.
Instructor: Andrea Miller; $75 Member/$90 non-member

Saturday workshop:Nov. 14, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
– Prints without the Press ó Ages 14 through adult. Learn a variety of ways to make beautiful prints without a press. This is a great workshop for artists, teachers, and those who want to explore a new art form. Discover fun and easy ways to produce professional looking prints. Students will use a variety of papers and inks, learn a little history, look at work by print artists, expand their vocabulary, print and have fun. All skill levels welcome. All materials included.
Instructor: Catherine Tsintzos; $50 per person.
Registration information- Members registering for two or more classes at the same time are eligible for a 10 percent discount.
– Class fees are due at registration. Register in person or by phone with VISA or MasterCard during business hours.
– No refunds given for cancellations fewer that 15 calendar days before the class start date.
– Refunds will not be given for withdrawals after class sessions have begun.
– WVAC reserves the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment and will refund class fee.
– Annual Membership must be valid at time of registration for member rate and multiple-class discounts.
– A limited number of scholarships are available. Contact WVAC for information., Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
– To ensure a quality experience for all students, WVAC reserves the right to refuse/remove a student due to behavioral problems. If a student is asked to leave, class fees will be forfeited with no refund.
