FARGO, N.D. ó Midland (Mich.) has prevailed 3-2 against Texarkana (Texas) in a winners bracket game Monday at Newman Outdoor Field. Midland scored three times in the third of seven innings, and Texarkana had a two-run bottom of the seventh.
The team claiming the winners bracket game is given Monday’s night game, and Rowan (39-9) already knew it would face Midland (52-8) today based on rematch possibilities, so the Rowan-Midland game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. EDT.
Medford (Ore.) will meet Texarkana at 2 p.m. EDT.
Rowan faced Midland in its first game of the 1996 American Legion World Series and won 2-1.
Christopher Chandler pitched a complete game, and Robert Cline scored on Justin Wishon’s game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth inning.
