Rain barrels for sale

Published 12:00 am Friday, August 7, 2009

Cooperative Extension is now taking orders for rain barrels.
This premium rain barrel fills from any size downspout through a bug-proof entry cover. A solid brass spigot connects easily to your garden hose or soaker hose. Two overflow ports can connect to standard water hoses to divert excess rain away from the home to nearby shrubbery areas. The barrels have ribbed sides for strength and a removable top for easy spring cleaning.
The deep, concave top channels water into the entry cover with a screened entry to prevent insects and debris from entering the rain barrel. Made in North Carolina from high density polyethylene, the rain barrel will provide water for flowers, shrubs, fruit trees and gardens.
Cost for an 80-gallon barrel is $100; for a 60-gallon barrel, $90. The deadline to order rain barrel is Sept. 4. Barrels can be picked up at the extension office at 2727-A Old Concord Road. Customer pick-up is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10.
