Vaughn – Simmons Engagement

Stephanie Ann Vaughn of Salisbury and Luke Caleb Simmons of China Grove are pleased to announce their engagement.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Clifford Sullivan of Charlotte and the late Shelia Vaughn. A 2009 graduate of South Rowan High School, Stephanie is employed by Debyís 52 Beach Bingo.
The future groom is the son of Reed and Renee Simmons and the grandson of Hubert and Joyce Simmons and Rachel and the late Cecil Boyd Miller, all of China Grove. A 2008 honor graduate of South Rowan High School, Luke is a student at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. He is employed at the Food Lion Warehouse.
The couple will wed Oct. 10 at First Baptist Church, China Grove.

Souther 25th Anniversary

Scott and Tonda Souther celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary June 13, 2009, with a party at Liberty United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Both from Cooleemee, Scott and Tonda were united in marriage June 16, 1984, at Cooleemee Presbyterian Church by the Rev. J.D. Reavis.
Scott currently is employed by Rowan County as a Heating and Air Technician Specialist. Tonda is employed by Mocksville Elementary as assistant PE teacher and coordinator.
The couple have two beautiful children, Emily, 13, and Jacob, 11.
The party was hosted by Phyllis Foster, Scottís mother of Salisbury, who was assisted by Emily Souther and Dena Kennedy, Scottís sister.
Guests consisted of close family and friends who all enjoyed refreshments, punch and cake, while viewing pictures of the married couple throughout their 25 years together.
Happy Anniversary, Tonda and Scott, and best wishes for many years to come.

Plummer 40th Anniversary

Bobby and Judy Plummer celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary July 13, 2009.

Holshouser 60th Anniversary

Donald Holshouser and Geraldine Sides Holshouser of Salisbury celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with an Alaskan cruise. Their children and their spouses, Jeff and Debbie Richards and Mike and Sheila Holshouser, all of Salisbury, and Sammy and Joyce Benton of Atlanta, celebrated with them.
The Holshousers were married July 3, 1949, at St. Matthewís Lutheran Church. Donald and Geraldine enjoy spending time with their six grandchildren, gardening and traveling.

Ellenburg – Sloop Engagement

Mark and Diane Brandt of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Michele Dyan Ellenburg, to Hugh Travis Sloop of Granite Quarry.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of the late Fredrick Adolphus Ellenburg of Salisbury. A 2000 graduate of West Rowan High School, Michele received a diploma in dental assisting from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in 2002. She is employed by Charles & Kari Roberts, DDS, in Mooresville.
The future groom is the son of Douglas and Brenda Sloop. A 1999 graduate of East Rowan High School, he graduated from Appalachian State University in 2004 with two degrees, one in Finance and ?Banking, and the second in Insurance and Risk Management. He is employed by Southern General Insurance Company.
The couple will wed Sept. 25 at Gayís Chapel United Methodist Church in Salisbury.

Beeker Birth

Ada Paige Beeker was born June 7, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C. She weighed 6 lbs. 7 oz., and was 19 inches long.
Ada is the daughter of Michael and Rhonda Riddle Beeker of Greenville.
She is the granddaughter of Terry and Susan Beeker of Salisbury, Nancy and Lomar Milburn and Robert Riddle, all of Waynesboro, Va.
Her great-grandparents are Helen L. and the late Gideon C. Miller of Salisbury, the late Ada Ruth Beeker Agner and Giles W. Beeker, the late Robert Curtis Agner, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett and Manola Sumner of Waynesboro, Va., and Gladys and the late Harry Riddle of Verona, Va.

Parson – Heintz Wedding

LANDIS ó Nikki Marie Parson of Kannapolis and Derek Wesley Heintz of Charlotte were united in marriage July 18, 2009, at Landis Baptist Church. Pastor Billy Honeycutt officiated the 6 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception in the churchís Fellowship Building.
The bride was escorted by her father. Attending as maid of honor was Melanie Wheeler of Palm Bay, Fla., and as matron of honor was Carrie Morris of Kannapolis. Bridesmaids were sister of the groom Alana Ivey of Concord, Lyndsey Black of Salisbury and Lisa Scher of Charlotte.
The best man was John Tharp of Winston-Salem. Groomsmen included Brandon Wilkinson of Concord, Michael Dishman of Salisbury, brother of the bride Chris Parson of Kannapolis and Jonathan Scher of Charlotte.
Makayla Ivey of Concord was flower girl, and Isaac Hollifield of Salisbury was ring bearer.
The bride is the daughter of James and Debbie Parson of Kannapolis and the granddaughter of the late Jack and Delores Faggart and the late Annie Parson. A 2002 graduate of A.L. Brown High School, Nikki has also studied at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Carolinas College of Health Sciences. She is employed by The Cato Corporation.
The groom is the son of Kim and Anita Heintz of Concord and the grandson of the late Ben and Sue Rummage and Everette and the late Peggy Heintz of Kannapolis. A 2002 graduate of Concord High School, Derek received a degree in Criminal Justice from Pfeiffer University in 2006. Currently working for his masterís at Pfeiffer, he is a state trooper with the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Following a honeymoon at the Inn at Biltmore Estates, Asheville, the couple will make their home in Charlotte.

Canup Graduation

Joshua Caleb Canup of Salisbury graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte May 9, 2009, with a Bachelor of Architecture.
A 2003 graduate of Salisbury High School, Joshua earned his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in 2007 from UNCC.
The son of Paul and Crystal Canup of Salisbury, Joshua is engaged to Danielle Dolan of Salisbury. He is currently doing historic restoration and architectural design for Alfred C. Wilson, Inc.

Daniel-McClary Wedding

ROCKWELL ó CarČjeanne Danita Daniel of Rockwell and Zachary Lyn McClary of Salisbury were married June 20, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Bruce Sheeks and Dr. Kenneth Lance officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Delores Daniel and the granddaughter of Elva Kesler. A graduate of East Rowan High School and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, CarČjeanne is employed at Smart Style in Salisbury.
The groom is the son of Steve and Susan McClary and the grandson of Arthur and Peggy Smithey and Edna McClary. A graduate of Lighthouse Academy and RCCC, Zac is a student at Pfeiffer University.
The couple are living in Salisbury.

Canup – Hicks Wedding

Sarah Michelle Canup and Michael Gregory Hicks, both of Salisbury, were united in marriage May 30, 2009, at St. Paulís Lutheran Church. The Rev. William Ketchie and Father John Putnam officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception on Paul and Crystal Canupís front lawn.
The bride was escorted by her father and attended by Briana Mendiola of Salisbury as maid of honor. Her bridesmaids were Rebekah Cheek and Leigha Hougland of Salisbury and Irma Diaz of St. Paul.
Jon Walczak of Cary was best man. Groomsmen included Steven Bevels, Clay Sunding and Ross Ervin of Salisbury.
Grace Lanigan was flower girl, and Antonio Troutman was ring bearer, both of Salisbury. Guest registrars were Austin Kinley and Halie Kinley.
The bride is the daughter of Paul and Crystal Canup and the granddaughter of Harley and Mae Canup and Virginia and the late Hilton Swindell, all of Salisbury. A 2007 graduate of Salisbury High School and an N.C. Teaching Fellow, Sarah is majoring in Elementary Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has been employed in the UNCC TEAL office and is working at the YMCA summer camp.
The groom is the son of Michael and Linda Hicks of Salisbury and the grandson of John and Donna LeClair of Williamsburg and Flonnie Hicks of Belmont. A 2006 graduate of West Rowan High School, Greg is majoring in History and minoring in Mass Communications at UNC-Asheville. He has worked at The Blue Banner of UNCA and is also working at the YMCA summer camp.
The couple honeymooned at Carolina Beach.

Kunzelman – Julian Wedding

ENTERPRISE, Ala. ó Lisa Marie Kunzelman and Joshua William Julian were wed May 29, 2009.
Lisa is the daughter of Anne and Paul Kunzelman of Constantia, N.Y. Joshua is the son of William and June Julian of Wilmington and the grandson of G. Barrett and Billie Weatherford Julian of Mooresville.
Joshua is an Army Rotary Wing Aviator, flying the Kiowa Helicopter. Warrant Officer Julian is currently stationed at Fort Ruckers, Ala., and is an alumnus of SUNY-Oswego and Oswego High School.
Lisa is an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, stationed on the USS McInerney (FFG-8) out of Mayport, Fla., as a Divisional Officer. A graduate of Paul V. Moore High School, she recently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, where she was a four-time All-American in Air Rifle.
Both Lisa and Josh are preparing for upcoming deployments in support of our National Defense.
