Thanks, 991st
Members of the Army Reserve 991st Transportation Company didn’t get a big, public welcome back to Salisbury last week for logistical reasons, but they deserve a collective thanks for their recent tour of duty in Iraq.
They hauled more than 2.5 million pounds of cargo during their one-year deployment and logged more than 1.5 million miles picking up or delivering goods ó from oil to vehicles to food.
While the 991st is based in Salisbury, its members come from Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida. They are part of a new Army Reserve ó no longer a group called on as a last resort, but a pivotal force that deploys regularly in support of military operations. Some 13,000 Reservists are deployed around the world, including 9,000 in Iraq.
Thanks go to members of the 991st for their hard work. They are a key, active part of the U.S. military.
