MOCKSVILLE ó Davie County Senior Services, 278 Meroney St., Mocksville, offers the following opportunities in June:
– Summer Dance, Saturday, June 13, 6:30-9:30 p.m., MP Rooms A and B. With deejay Barry Rentz,cost $5.
There will be a variety of music for all kinds of dancing, with or without a partner. Refreshments will be served. Open to adults 55 and older and exceptions under the general participation policy.
– Monthly movie, “Nights in the Rodanthe” 2 p.m. Monday, June 15. MP Rooms A and B, free.
With chaos tearing her marriage and family apart, Adrienne Willis takes a weekend caretaker job at her friend’s coastal North Carolina inn. Starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane, this film is rated PG-13 for some sensuality.
It is open to adults 55 and older and exceptions under the general participation policy. In order to make events more accessible, closed captioning is used for all movies.
– Golden anniversary party, Tuesday, June 16 at noon. Multipurpose Room B. Free.
All couples who have been married 50 years or more as of June 16 are invited to a luncheon in their honor. There will be a meal and the “Not So Newlywed Game.”
At the Farmington site:
– Flag History and Etiquette, Thursday, June 11, 10:30 a.m. Speaker: Don Cover, Veterans Service officer. In honor of Flag Day on June 14, learn all about the history of the U.S. flag and proper etiquette, including when to fly, when to lower and how to dispose of a flag. Limited to the first 25 to register.
– Outdoor games, Monday, June 15, 10:30 a.m. Come play all your outdoor favorites and enjoy a beautiful summer day.
