UPDATED: Kannapolis man charged with hiring someone to rape his wife

Staff report
KANNAPOLIS ó A 25-year-old Kannapolis man has been charged with arranging the first-degree rape of his wife.
The Post is not identifying the man to protect the identity of the victim.
According to Kannapolis Police, the man had used personal ads on craiglist.com in an effort to arrange for someone to come to his home and have sex with his wife using some type of scare tactic.

911 Audio

Around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Kannapolis Police responded to a 911 call to a home off Shiloh Church Road. The caller indicated a man armed with a knife appeared in the couple’s bedroom and sexually assaulted the woman.
Police said the victim’s husband was present in the bedroom during the incident. Two small children were also present in the home at the time of the incident but were not aware of what was taking place.
Following the assault, the victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast where she underwent an examination and interview. According to a press release from the Kannapolis Police, she sustained no serious injuries and was released a short time later.
Investigators interviewed the victim and her husband and became suspicious when they found no sign of forced entry to the home.
Investigators also found inconsistencies in the initial statement given by the husband.
On Tuesday, investigators discovered that the husband had responded to at least two personal ads on craigslist.com to have sex with his wife using a scare tactic.
Investigators believe the husband arranged the incident without the knowledge or consent of the victim.
The husband was arrested Wednesday and placed in the Cabarrus County Jail with no bond. He is charged with first- degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual offense and attempted sexual offense in the first-degree.
Police have identified the suspect in the rape, but have not arrested him at this point.
If anyone has additional information about the crime, call the Kannapolis Police Department at 704-920-4000.
