Brewer – Yow
Christy Lynne Brewer and Christopher John Yow were united in marriage March 14, 2009, at Eastside Baptist Church in Salisbury.
The Rev. Joe Black officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception in the churchís Fellowship Hall.
The bride was escorted by her father, Doug Brewer. Attending as matron of honor was her sister, Anne Taylor of Lancaster, Pa. Bridesmaids were Brandy Wyrick, Stephanie Jackson, Hannah Brown, LeAnne Nance and Brittany Wilhelm, all of Salisbury.
Bobby Yow of Richfield was his sonís best man. Groomsmen were Wes Herlocker, Derek Yow, Bill Tipton, Wade Lomax and Brian Necaise, all of Richfield.
Anna Beane of Troy served as the guest register attendant.
The bride is the daughter of Doug Brewer of Salisbury and Daphne and Wade Lomax of Richfield. She is the granddaughter of Grey Morrison and Fran and Gene Brewer, all of Salisbury. A 2006 graduate of East Rowan High School, Christy received an Associate degree in Medical Assisting from Kingís College in 2007, graduating with honors. She is employed at the Aldi warehouse.
The groom is the son of Bobby and Sedonia Yow and the grandson of Willie and Duey Yow, all of Richfield. A 1991 graduate of North Stanly High School, Christopher is employed by Culp Lumber Company.
Following a wedding trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple are making their home in Richfield.
Crisco – Deal
Doyd and Vicky Crisco of Kannapolis are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Ann Crisco, to Gregory Alan Deal of China Grove.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of D.P. and Hattie Crisco of Kannapolis and A.P. and Foy Honeycutt of Concord. A 2005 graduate of A.L.Brown High School, Jessica is a deanís list student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, planning to graduate in 2010 with a degree in elementary education. She is employed by Crosspointe Baptist Church.
The future groom is the son of Donnie and Kathy Deal and the grandson of Hubert and Marie Smith and the late Bernard and Maxine Deal, all of China Grove. A 2001 graduate of South Rowan High School, Greg is employed by the Maintenance Department of Rowan-Salisbury School System.
The wedding is June 6 at The Lakes in Kannapolis.
Mae Jessie Dalton Birthday
The progeny of Mae Jessie Dalton honored her request to celebrate her birthday legacy of 97 years by bringing all of her ěChildren, Grands, Great-Grands and Great-Great-Grands in one room together.î
This spectacular event was held at the Holiday Inn in Salisbury on April 26, 2009, hosted by grandchildren Mr. and Mrs. Gordon and Anitra White and their Celebration Committee: sons Wayne Dalton and James Dalton, grandchildren Vanessa and Veronica Henderson and great-grandchildren Marquita Dalton and Pettrus LaShawn Henderson.
Mae Jessie was overjoyed as she had opportunity to lay eyes on every single person in attendance (130 guests) as they presented her with a single rose.
Mae Jessie Dalton was born April 30, 1912, the eldest of 16 children, with eight surviving siblings all doing well. She was a longtime resident of Lexington before moving to Salisbury, where she is currently a resident under the caring hands of Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks. With 11 children born to her union, two resting at peace in Godís hand with her husband, David Ezekiel Dalton, affectionally known as ěDT,î her legacy includes 107 grands, great-grands and great-great-grands.
This incredible occasion not only celebrated Mae Jessieís lifelong accomplishments that still impact us all today, but it also renewed family values and encouraged fellowship, stronger ties and an appreciation for the sanctity of family.
As her family continues to grow and multiply at the command of God, so does her legacy.
Horton 68th Anniversary
Howard J. Horton and Ethel Z. McBride Horton of Faith are celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary today, May 10, 2009, at a cookout with family and friends at the homes of their sons.
The Hortons were married May 9, 1941, at Faith Baptist Church in Faith by the Rev. W. James. Howard, 91, retired from Hefner VA Medical Center, and Ethel, 89, retired from Belk Department Store.
Their two sons are Ron H. Horton (Sharon) and Jeff A. Horton (Meredith), both of High Rock Lake.
The couple have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Kluttz – Husack
Jimmy and Patti Kluttz of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jamie Lorin Kluttz of Atlanta, Ga., to Benjamin Michael Husack of Fayetteville, Ga.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Betty and the late Frank Craver of Salisbury and the late Doug and Mildred Kluttz of Spencer. A 2004 graduate of North Rowan High School, Jamie received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University in 2008, graduating cum laude. She teaches at Woodland Elementary Charter School in Atlanta.
The future groom is the son of Barbara Husack of Fayetteville, Ga., and David Husack of Marietta, Ga., and the grandson of Harry and the late Sophia Mathis of Marietta, Ga., and the late Evelyn Mobley of Fayetteville, Ga. A 2003 graduate of Woodward Academy, Ben received a BSBA in Marketing from ASU in 2007. He is a customer service representative for Blue Sombrero.
The wedding is June 6 at Central United Methodist Church, in Spencer.
Miller 60th Anniversary
G. Frank Miller and Rachel F. Propst Miller of Salisbury are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary May 17, 2009, at a gathering of family and friends at Grace Lutheran Church. The Millers were married May 12, 1949, at the Concordia Lutheran Church parsonage in China Grove by the Rev. C.E. Lutz. A lifetime farmer, Frank retired from China Grove Roller Mill after 26 years, and Rachel retired from Rowan Regional Medical Center after 20 years.
The coupleís children and spouses are David and Brenda Miller, Ronnie and Becky Gorman and Danny Miller, all of Salisbury, and Deborah Miller of China Grove. They also have five grandchildren.
Poole – Crews
GOLD HILL ó Kelly Leigh Poole and Jeremy Kevin Crews were united in marriage Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Historic Gold Hill Park. Magistrate Joe McGee officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception.
The bride was escorted by her father, Robert G. Poole, Jr. Her gown was white satin accented with a cornflower blue sash. A white elbow-length veil and bouquet of gardenias and yellow roses completed her attire.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was Stacey Smith of Salisbury. Bridesmaids were Misty Crews of Rockwell and Shante Chaudry of Vero Beach, Fla. They wore cornflower blue satin dresses accented with butter cream yellow sashes.
Jerry Crews served as his sonís best man. Groomsmen were brothers of the groom Justin Crews of Rockwell, Jarred Crews of Vero Beach, Fla., and Jon Crews of Alexandria, Va., along with brother of the bride Ben Poole of Salisbury.
Serving as flower girl was Lilly Crews of Rockwell, and ring bearer was Marcus Tart of Dunn.
The bride is the daughter of Robert and Connie Poole of Salisbury and the granddaughter of the late Alice and Guy Parker and Frances Poole and the late Robert G. Poole Sr. A 2003 graduate of East Rowan High School, Kelly graduated from Catawba College in 2007, where she majored in elementary education. She is a teacher for Rowan-Salisbury School System.
The groom is the son of Jerry and Diane Crews of Granite Quarry and the grandson of Harold and Louise Overcash and Margaret Crews Shank and the late Ernest Crews. A graduate of East Rowan High School, Jeremy served in the U.S. Army and is currently employed with the Town of Spencer.
Following a cruise to the Bahamas and trip to Disneyworld, the couple are residing in Salisbury.
Ramsey – Gordon
MOUNT PLEASANT ó Amanda Renee Ramsey and Kenneth Christopher Gordon, both of Salisbury, were united in marriage Saturday, May 9, 2009, at The Saratoga Springs. The Rev.Jeremy Pierce officiated the 6 pm ceremony, which was followed by a reception at The Concord Hotel.
The bride was escorted by her father, Raymond Charles Ramsey. Attending as Matron of Honor was sister of the bride Sophia Leece of Blacksburg, Va. and as Maid of Honor was sister of the bride Andrea Ramsey of Charlotte. Bridesmaids included Emily Lambert and Nicole Williams of Kannapolis, Lisa Bernhardt of Salisbury, and sister of the groom Amanda Cheatham of Oak Grove, Ky.
Serving as best man was brother of the groom Cody Dale of Salisbury. Groomsmen included Bud Lambert and Nick Williams of Kannapolis and Jonathan Brown, Jonathan Morehead and Kyle Blankenship, all of Rockwell.
The bride chose her niece, Sofia Strazzulla, to serve as her flower girl, and Isaac Lambert was ring bearer. Attendants included Brandi George, Jordan Huffman, Brittany McDuffie, Victoria Runyon and Liz Stiltner. Soloist was Shannon Lapham.
The bride is the daughter of Raymond Charles Ramsey of Faith and Anne Elaine Strazzulla of Rockwell. She is the granddaughter of Sophia and the late James Douglas, Mary Thompson and Patricia and the late Charles Ramsey. A 2004 graduate of East Rowan High School, Amanda received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May 2008. She is a registered nurse at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
The groom is the son of Mary Plummer Dale of Salisbury and Roger Lee Gordon of Denton and the grandson of Pauline and the late David Gordon, Christine and Coy Plummer and Ed and the late Brenda Boulding. A 2002 graduate of East Rowan High School, Kenneth works at the Dillardís Distribution Center in Salisbury and will attend Basic Law Enforcement Training in the fall. He is currently studying for an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
Following a honeymoon trip to St. Thomas, the couple will make their home in Salisbury.
Rawling – Endicott
Margaret Paige Rawling, daughter of Katharine Rawling and the late John Rawling of Phoenix, Ariz., and Curtis Lance Endicott, son of Walter and Cynthia Endicott of Tacoma, Wash., proudly announce their engagement.
The brideís parents are 1966 graduates of Boyden High School in Salisbury, N.C. Her grandparents are T. Lynch Murphy and the late CoCo Murphy and the late J. Pearson and Myrtle Rawling of Salisbury.
The groomís son, Jonathan Endicott, and the coupleís brothers, Evan Endicott and Zachary Rawling, will join friends and family on Halloween night in Los Angeles, Calif., to celebrate this awesome partnership.
Short – Kirk
Tiffany Lynn Short of Salisbury and Caleb Alexander Kirk of Richfield were united in marriage Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Faith Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Craig Sigmon and the Rev. William Johnson officiated the 5 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Warrior Golf Club in China Grove.
The bride was escorted by her father, Timothy Short. Serving as matron of honor was Tonya German, sister of the bride. Attending as maid of honor was Natasha Brinegar, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids included Bailee Johnson of Salisbury and Kara Preston and Katie Sigmon, both of Rockwell. Miss Caylynn Westberg, niece of the bride, served as junior bridesmaid.
Lee Roy Kirk stood as his sonís best man. Groomsmen included Nick Gates of Banner Elk, Danny Misenheimer of Ogden, Utah, Matt Ribelin of Salisbury and Matt Staton of Rockwell.
Guest registrars included Charlotte Staton and Shena Fry, both of Salisbury. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Safrit of High Point served as greeters at the reception site.
Ceremony music was provided by pianist/organist Tina Grubb of Salisbury and soloist Ben Sigmon of Salisbury.
The bride is the daughter of Timothy Short of Rockwell and Chandra and Mitch Upright of Salisbury and the granddaughter of Ellen and the late Ben Fink of Faith and Carl and Betty Short of Rockwell. A 2004 honor graduate of East Rowan High School, Tiffany received a degree in Marketing from Appalachian State University in 2007. She is currently a student at Mercy School of Nursing pursuing licensure as a Registered Nurse.
The groom is the son of Lee Roy and Jeannie Kirk of Richfield and the grandson of the late Lee and Stella Kirk of Richfield and the late Horace and Izella Stalnaker of Pontotoc, Miss. A 2000 graduate of East Rowan High School, Caleb received a degree in Healthcare Administration from Appalachian State University in 2007. He is currently employed by Cabarrus County EMS.
Following a wedding trip to Jackson Hole, Wy., the couple will make their home in Richfield.
Sides – Spencer
KEY WEST, Fla. ó Jennifer Leigh Sides and Todd Robert Spencer of Salisbury, N.C., were united in marriage Feb. 7, 2009, at Smathers Beach. A reception followed at the beach.
The bride is the daughter of Debbie and Jim Dyer of Salisbury and Joe Sides of Rockwell. A 1998 graduate of East Rowan High School, Jennifer earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from East Carolina University.
The groom is the son of Elizabeth Withers Smith and the late Addison Neal Smith. Sr. He is a graduate of W.G. Enloe High School.
The couple are making their home in Salisbury.
Stowe 62nd Anniversary
Rev. James L. Stowe and Sarah Amanda Currence Stowe of Salisbury celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary Sunday, April 27, 2009, with a dinner at their home hosted by their daughter, Jayme Stowe, and her fiance, Willie Mckee. The celebration was attended by family and special friends.
The Stowes were married April 27, 1947, in York, S.C. Rev. Stowe retired from the ministry after 54 years of service and presently serves as pastor emeritus of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Salisbury. Mrs. Stowe is a retired social worker with Rowan Community Service Council.
The happy coupleís children are Sherrie Ford (John), Jayme Stowe and Daniel Stowe of Salisbury and Tarshish Stowe of Tampa, Fla. They have been blessed with 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two god children, Vickie and Nathaniel Thomas of Salisbury.
