College Basketball: Catawba men face Lenoir-Rhyne tonight in SAC tournament

Catawba’s men’s basketball team plays top-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne tonight at 6 p.m. in a SAC tournament semifinal at Hickory’s Catawba Valley Community College.
The fourth-seeded Indians (19-9) take on a Lenoir-Rhyne team that has won eight straight games, including an 83-73 victory over the Indians when they met in Hickory.
Catawba beat the Bears 91-85 at Goodman Gym in December.
Catawba is led by the scoring of Antonio Houston (18.2 points a game), Rob Fields (15.9), Dominick Reid (11.0), Cliff Burns (10.3), Donald Rutherford (9.5) and Isaac Rose (8.2).
Rutherford is the Indians’ leading rebounder, with Houston close behind him.
Leading L-R (18-9) are 6-foot-4 Elliott McDowell (17.7), 6-6 D.J. Blackmon (14.0), 6-1 Josh Rudder (12.9) and 5-10 Marcus Hodges (9.7).
Tusculum and Newberry meet in the second semifinal at about 8 p.m.
The championship game is Sunday at 4 p.m., with the winner earning an automatic regional bid.
