David Nelson at Saturday Salon; writers to speak April 4

Local minister and author the Rev. Dr. David Paul Nelson will be the featured author for the Saturday Salon at Literary Bookpost on Saturday, March 7, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
He will be signing copies of his new book, “Grace-Full Living … on Life’s Way,” as well as chatting with attendees about his book and the interesting aspects of his life.
Nelson is a retired Lutheran minister who is actually only semi-retired, as he is serving as an interim pastor. Married to Mary Ann, they are the parents of two sons. Nelson has long written columns and articles for the Salisbury Post. “Grace-Full Living … on Life’s Way” is a compilation of some of these articles. Steeped in a theology of grace, the book attempts to communicate the wonder of God’s gracious love in our everyday life.

Writer’s conference
WADESBORO ó Romance/mystery writer Judi McCoy will be a featured speaker at the Carolinas Writers Conference in Wadesboro on April 4.
The one-day conference, sponsored by the Anson County Writers’ Club, South Piedmont Community College and Carolina Romance Writers, will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, at SPCC’s Lockhart-Taylor Center in Wadesboro. Doors open for registration at 8 a.m., followed by a welcoming ceremony at 8:30 a.m.
McCoy will be joined by Glenis Redmond (“African Voices” and “Backbone”); Robert Macomber (“Point of Honor” and “A Dishonorable Few”); and North Carolina writer Robert Inman (“Home Fires Burning,” “Old Dogs and Children,” “Dairy Queen Days” and “Captain Saturday”) as featured speakers.
McCoy, who lives on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, has published 14 romance novels ó including “Match Made in Heaven,” “Heaven Sent,” “Mistletoe and Mayhem” and “A Matter of Trust.”
Her first book, “I Dream of You,” was honored as Best-Selling Debut Romance of 2001. Since then, McCoy’s romance genre novels have received a four-star designation from the Romantic Times Book Club.
Her newest mystery novel, “Hounding the Pavement,” has been optioned by CBS and Paramount Productions as a weekly television series. The novel’s heroine, Ellie, can understand what her dog-walking clientele thinks and turns sleuth to solve a murder mystery.
McCoy has donated all royalties earned from “Hounding the Pavement” to the Kanab, Utah-based Best Friends, a no-kill shelter organization.
