HARTFORD, Conn. ó Hasheem Thabeet had 21 points and nine rebounds as No. 1 Connecticut bounced back from its second loss of the season with a 64-50 victory over South Florida on Saturday.
The 7-foot-3 junior blocked six shots and showed no ill effects from a hyperextended shoulder when he was flipped by Pittsburgh’s DeJuan Blair in the Huskies’ 76-68 loss on Monday.
A.J. Price had 11 points and Jeff Adrien had nine points and 15 rebounds for UConn (25-2, 13-2 Big East), which reached the 25-win mark for the 11th time in the last 20 years.
Augustus Gilchrist scored 15 points to lead South Florida (8-18, 3-11), which lost its fourth straight.
Texas 73, No. 2 Oklahoma 68AUSTIN, Texas ó A.J. Abrams scored 18 of Texas’ final 20 points Saturday night, leading the Longhorns to a 73-68 upset of No. 2 Oklahoma, which had to play most of the game without leading scorer and rebounder Blake Griffin after he sustained a concussion in the first half.
Abrams scored 16 in a row in the final 8 minutes, hitting four 3-pointers, then capped off the scoring with two free throws with 4 seconds to play.
No. 4 Pittsburgh 80, DePaul 61
PITTSBURGH ó DeJuan Blair outmuscled DePaul inside for 20 points and 18 rebounds while setting No. 4 Pittsburgh’s two-game record for rebounds, and the Panthers pulled away early in the second half for an 80-61 victory.
Blair, averaging 20 points during a seven-game Pitt winning streak, had 13 rebounds in the first 13 minutes and 16 by halftime. The 6-foot-7 Blair slowed his rebounding pace in the second half, mostly because the Panthers (25-2, 12-2 in Big East) didn’t miss as many shots ó 10 of his rebounds were on the offensive end.
No. 5 Memphis 70, Texas-El Paso 63EL PASO, Texas ó Tyreke Evans scored 25 points and Memphis extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 18 games with the Tigers’ 53rd consecutive Conference USA win.
Evans was 9-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, for the Tigers (24-3, 12-0),.
No. 7 Louisville 72, Cincinnati 63CINCINNATI ó Terrence Williams scored 20 points and Louisville dominated up front.
Williams, who was hobbled by a sprained right wrist for three games, had 20 points and five assists for the Cardinals (21-5, 12-2 Big East) and started a decisive 12-2 run in the second half.
Alvin Mitchell scored 14 points for Cincinnati (17-10, 7-7), which fell to 1-5 against ranked teams.
No. 10 Marquette 78, Georgetown 72WASHINGTON ó Wesley Matthews was 9-for-16 from the field, including a career-high five 3-pointers on eight attempts, and scored 23 points for Marquette.
Jerel McNeal added 22 points, seven assists and six rebounds while playing all 40 minutes, and Lazar Hayward had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (23-4, 12-2 Big East). Chris Wright had 17 for Georgetown (14-11, 5-9).
No. 11 Missouri 66, Colorado 53BOULDER, Colo. ó Leo Lyons, who missed Missouri’s 45-point blowout of Colorado last month while serving a one-game suspension after his arrest on traffic violations, had 13 points and 15 rebounds for his third double-double of the season in the rematch.
The Tigers (23-4, 10-2 Big 12) reached double figures in conference wins for the first time in nine years.
No. 15 Kansas 70, Nebraska 53LAWRENCE, Kan. ó Sherron Collins had 22 points and Cole Aldrich added 18 points and 12 rebounds as Kansas pulled away in the second half.
Collins didn’t have a turnover for the second straight game and Kansas (22-5, 11-1 Big 12) extended the nation’s longest home winning streak to 39 games, setting up a showdown with No. 2 Oklahoma on Monday.
Ade Dagunduro had 13 points for Nebraska (16-9, 6-6).
No. 19 Purdue 81, Indiana 67WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ó E’Twaun Moore scored a season-high 26 points for Purdue.
Moore was 5-of-6 from 3-point range after going just 2-of-16 from there the previous five games. JaJuan Johnson had 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for the Boilermakers (21-6, 10-4 Big Ten), who won their fourth straight.
Verdell Jones III had 16 points for Indiana (6-20, 1-13), which lost its fifth straight.
Washington St. 82, No. 20 UCLA 81LOS ANGELES ó Taylor Rochestie scored a career-high 33 points to lead Washington State to the upset.
The senior guard had five rebounds, four assists, five 3-pointers and made all of his 10 free throws to lead the Cougars (14-13, 6-9 Pac-10) to their second win in %3 games in Los Angeles.
Forward Nikola Dragovic scored a career-high 23 points, including five 3-pointers, for the Bruins (20-7, 9-5.).
No. 22 Washington 60, USC 51
LOS ANGELES ó Quincy Pondexter scored a season-high 22 points and No. 22 Washington defeated Southern California 60-51. Pondexter shot 10-for-13 from the field to lead the Huskies (20-7,11-4 Pac-10).
No. 23 LSU 79, Auburn 72
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) ó Marcus Thornton scored 25 points and No. 23 LSU clinched the SEC West Division while snapping Auburn’s four-game winning streak, 79-72 on Saturday night.Bo Spencer and Tasmin Mitchell each scored 14 for LSU (23-4, 11-1 SEC), which won its eighth straight overall, 11th straight in the SEC and earned a first-round bye in the conference tournament.
Saint Louis 57, No. 25 Dayton 49
ST. LOUIS ó Kevin Lisch had 16 points and six rebounds to lead Saint Louis to a 57-49 victory .
Tommie Liddell added 10 points and five assists for the Billikens (17-10, 8-5 Atlantic 10), which has won six of seven. Chris Wright led the Flyers (23-4, 9-3) with 11 points.
