Keep a close eye on bailout dollars
The news is full of bailouts and stimulus packages that boggle the mind. I contacted Senators Hagan and Burr and President Obama and gave them my views. I want an accounting of every dime of taxpayer money that is handed over to anybody, including banks, Wall Street and even Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Slap the hands of those whose need isn’t bonafide or whose request will not create jobs or stimulate the economy. Pork presenters should be sent back to the pigpen with the other hogs. Give lobbyists a cup of coffee and send them to the lobby to wait until they’re covered in cobwebs.
The “Buy America” proviso, popular with Americans, sparked protests from the European Union and others that called us “protectionists” and threatened action against us. Keep in mind that these are the same countries that called us “protector” when we liberated them during World War II.
Rarely mentioned is the World Trade Organization or the free-trade agreements, NAFTA and CAFTA. Could free trade possibly be creating job loss? North Carolinians know when the mills and related business began closing and yet we’re asked, “Are you going to believe us or your lying eyes?” A free-trade advocate was asked how the free-trade agreements have benefited America. At last, the answer to my question! He said we now have access to things we never dreamed of before free trade. He’s absolutely right. We have job loss, lead in children’s toys and furniture, fish from cesspools in Asia and unsafe auto parts, to mention a few. Our 3-year-old Whirlpool refrigerator, formerly made in the U.S.A., now made in Mexico, has cracks in the interior, a testament to free trade.
Good luck, Mr. President, and beware of the dipstick in lipstick and other advisors with bad track records.

The Bible is clear
Those who oppose homosexual marriage on religious grounds don’t necessarily hate homosexuals; they dislike the sin which homosexuality represents, and while they accept the existence of homosexuals, they resist attempts to gain acceptance through misuse of the Bible and the church.
They merely know what the Bible says and don’t want a liberalized distortion of it forced upon them and society, and with good reason. Liberalism has proven its ability to force its will on the people, which is why so much of our hard earned money goes to self-perpetuating failures known as social programs. Those who try to justify acceptance of homosexuality through use of the Bible merely demonstrate the ignorance they attribute to those who oppose them.
Proponents of homosexual marriage who spew hatred and indulge in name calling they would never tolerate from anyone who disagrees with them, are quite happy to distort the Constitution to suit them, especially the “separation of church and state.” This guarantees that the state cannot impose its religion on the people, i.e. the Church Of England, which our ancestors came here to escape. No-where does it state that Christianity can have no influence in state affairs, especially since Christians are the majority in this country, whether Mark Dilloo (Feb. 18 letter) likes it or not. His comparison of the issue of homosexual marriage to the ordeal of our fighting men and women during World War II or the civil rights struggle is vile and loathsome, and gives a clear picture of the kind of people who support this attempt to mangle the Bible and the Constitution, disposing of the parts which don’t suit their needs.
