Connor-Sells Five Generations

The Connor-Sells family is proud to feature five generations.

Hawes – Pierce

Maurice and Delores Hawes of Wilmington are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Laney Carmel Hawes, to Robert Craig Pierce, both of Shallotte.
Craig is the son of Susanne Pierce of Salisbury and Robert and Kelly Pierce of Wilmington.
Laney and Craig will be married Oct. 24 at First Baptist Church in Wilmington.

Hill 50th Anniversary

John Hill and Barbara Hill of Salisbury are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today, Feb. 22, 2009. The Hills were united in marriage Feb. 22, 1959, at Salem Lutheran Church.
John is retired and had served 25 years as the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. Barbara is a homemaker.
The coupleís children are Mike Hill of Concord, Dale Hill of Faith and Danny Hill of Rockwell. They have four grandchildren.
The Hills celebration included a trip to Savannah, Ga., and Charleston, S.C., a gift from their children and grandchildren.

Sifford 50th Anniversary

John Willie Sifford Sr. and Eva Mae Harvey Sifford of Salisbury celebrated their 50th anniversary Dec. 20, 2008, by renewing their vows at City Park Center on Lake Drive in Salisbury. Cohen Lyons and Carolyn Lyons of Washington, D.C., served as best man and matron of honor. The Siffords were married Dec. 20, 1958, in York, S.C., by Judge Charles N. Nunn. John retired from Cone Mills after 42 years of service and is now a self-employed carpenter. Eva Mae worked at Rowan Manufacturing for 20 years and retired from Cone Mills after 21 years of service. Their children are John Willie Sifford Jr., Mary Paulette Sifford-Brown, Rosa Jannette Sifford-Chalk and Jessie Lewis Sifford Sr., all of Salisbury. They have 11 grandchildren.

Torrence – Lewis

Charlie and Beatrice McKenzie of East Spencer are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jada Torrence of Salisbury, to William Lewis Jr., also of Salisbury.
Jada is also the daughter of the late J.C. Torrence. William is the son of the late William Lewis Sr. and Helen Lewis.
The wedding will be May 9 at Providence AME Zion Church in Salisbury.
