Another look at school sites
As I followed the letters in the Post as to where and what type of school administration building to invest in and did a drive-by of options proposed, a few questions crossed my mind.
The farmers market site on South Main looks entirely inadequate if the old Winn-Dixie facility is too small. It appears the school building would take up the whole area, and where would 200-plus vehicles park?
The Winn-Dixie complex has adequate parking but is too small. Has anyone asked whether there might be an option of obtaining properties adjoining Winn-Dixie (i.e. businesses) toward the YMCA or the little strip mall across the parking lot toward Burger King? Would the addition of one or both of these be adequate?

Pay attention to these policies
A citizen was concerned about a library policy, so Melody and Suzanne explained it to him and all the Post readers.
My cousin is concerned about getting his new TV box to work. So I think they moved the deadline up a couple of months to help him out.
And that reminds me of something that happened more than 25 years ago.
A friend of mine called me one day and asked, “Do you know anything about VCRs?”
He sounded concerned.
“Not much,” I said. “But I might be able to hook it up.”
He said, “Can you come down here and look at this thing? I can’t get it to do nothing.”
So I drove down there and walked in his front room. There he sat in the middle of the floor with wires running everywhere.
I looked around and said, “Red, where’s your TV?”
“Oh,” he said, “I traded it in on the VCR.”
Where is all this going?
Well, I’m concerned why so many licensed N.C. drivers can’t understand three very simple policies.
No. 1 is turning right on red. It ain’t a law you have to turn on red. I believe the law is you can turn on red ó if nothing is coming.
No. 2 is those handicap cards that hang on rearview mirrors. You are not supposed to ride around displaying them. Wait until you get parked in your designated spot, and then hang it.
This last one is for people who can’t read, so I will try to explain it to them.
Those road signs that say “Slower traffic keep right” ó that means your other right. The far right.
Drive carefully and have a safe trip. And remember this: The life you save could be my granddaughter’s.
