Symphony Guild hosts annual membership coffee

The Salisbury-Rowan Symphony Guild held their membership coffee on Jan. 22 at the home of Jayne Helms.
President Debbie Elliott presided. She announced that this is the 32nd season for the guild which currently has a membership of just under 200.
The recent Christmas Homes Tour was successful with 500 visitors to the homes on the tour. A check for $4,000 was presented to the symphony.
The Festival of Spring Gardens will be May 16-17. The theme is “Roses,” and there will be four gardens in the country club and three off N.C. 150.
David Hagy, conductor, gave an overview of the Jan. 24 concert featuring cellist Anne Sellitti. He announced that the family concert will be at Varick Auditorium on Feb. 15.
This will feature the All-County Fifth-Grade Honors Chorus and two young musicians.
The next meeting will be the membership tea at the home of Nancy Stanback on March 19 at 3:30 p.m.
Red Hats
The Silver Queen Strollers of Miller Center Red Hat Society started off their year by being in the Martin Luther King Parade on Jan. 19.
On Jan. 27, the Red Hats were guests at the home of the vice queen mother, Jessie Childers, for a birthday luncheon catered by her son, Lonnie Childers.
Members present were: Queen Mother Evelyn Clayborn, Fannie Butler, Cassie Boler, Marion Logan, Katherine Smith, Florence Perry, Elnora Woods, Betty Hutchins, Annie Rivers, Phyllis Thumside, Doretha Moore, Addie Hargrave, Magdaline Fox and guest Gloria Thompson.
Lakai Brice served as the van driver for the group.
The group will attend the annual Afro-American Breakfast at Rufty-Holmes on Feb. 27 sponsored by Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home a supporter of the Silver Queen Stroller Red Hat Society.
