Bowyer – Wei
Elizabeth Irene Bowyer and Leo Tzu-Yao Wei, both of Taipei, Taiwan, were married Oct. 25, 2008, at Franklin Presbyterian Church in Salisbury. The Rev. Dr. Larry Summey and sister of the bride Rev. Beverly Bowyer Coppley officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Rowan Museum.
The bride was escorted by her father. Dr. Christine Mallinson of Baltimore, Md., attended as maid of honor, and bridesmaids included Paula Hong of Highland Park, Ill., Jennifer McIntyre of Taichung, Taiwan, and Lisa Crawley of Raleigh. Ellen Coppley of Kannapolis was junior bridesmaid, and Melanie Grooms of Rockwell was flower girl. Both are nieces of the bride.
Paul Grooms of Rockwell, brother-in-law of the bride, stood as best man. Groomsmen were brother-in-law of the bride Rev. Jeffrey Coppley of Kannapolis, Lee Quinn and Matthew Crawley of Raleigh and Jeffrey Pouland of North Vassalboro, Maine.
Serving as guest registrars were Melissa Bocchino and Erin White. Christina Bowyer Grooms, sister of the bride, was scripture reader.
The bride is the daughter of Billie Sharpe Bowyer of Salisbury and Charles and Ann Bowyer of Lexington and the granddaughter of the late Bill and Irene Sharpe and the late Clinton and Myrtle Bowyer, all of Salisbury. A 1996 honor graduate of North Rowan High School, Beth received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism and Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000. She is employed by Overseas Radio and Television in Taipei.
The groom is the son of Takeo and Judy Kubota and Ren-He Wei, all of Taipei, Taiwan. A 1989 graduate of Fu-Hsing Trade and Arts High School, Leo received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Foreign Languages from Shih-Chien University in Taipei in 2004. He is also employed by Overseas Radio and Television in Taipei.
The couple are making their home in Taipei, Taiwan.
Bullard 50th Anniversary
Joanne and Gattis Bullard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 30, 2009. They were married Jan. 30, 1959, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Greensboro.
Gattis worked in the insurance business for 44 years with Life of Virginia and Liberty Life, from where he retired in 1998. Joanne is a Certified Residential Specialist and an Accredited Buyer Representative with Rowan Realty.
They have two daughters, Teresa of High Point and Angela of Greensboro; and six grandchildren ages 4 to 10 years.
The Bullards are active members of Organ Lutheran Church where they play in the Handbell Choir. Gattis is active in the Shriners Brass Band and St. John’s Mens Choir.
