Prep Swimming: South boys, Salisbury girls win county meet

Some things don’t change in boys swimming.
South Rowan’s boys won their seventh straight County Meet at the Hurley YMCA.
South finished with 201 points to take the title Friday. East Rowan placed second with 144. Salisbury (52) was a distant third, followed by Carson (36) and North Rowan (31).
South’s Mark Wooten won the 100 backstroke (1:04.09) and was on the first-place 200 free relay team (1:39.49). He was second in the 100 fly and part of the second-place team in the 200 medley relay.
Trevor Guyaux was first in the 50 free (24.47) and joined Wooten, Zach Allman and Drew Miller in winning the 200 free relay. Tyler Hoke won the 500 free (5:55.61).
East’s Tanner Lowman, the MVP, won the 200 IM (2:08.61) and 100 butterfly (56.37). He was on first-place teams in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.Salisbury’s Andrew McCollister won the 200 free and 100 breaststroke.

Salisbury won the girls meet with 151 points and ended the four-year reign of South, which took third with 116. East was second with 135. North and Carson tied with 40 each.
Garrison Stevens and Madi Ralston were co-MVPs. Ralston won the 200 free (2:04.30) and the 100 butterfly (1:05.51). Stevens was first in the 200 IM (2:24.54) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.67). Stevens, Ralston, Carley Drye and Shelby Carrion were on first-place teams in the 200 medley relay (2:01.34) and 400 free relay (4:04.91). Carrion, who also won the 500 free, was on the winning 200 free relay team with Drye, Molly Robinson and Katie Canipe.
