Catawba basketball beats Belmont Abbey 94-76

Catawba’s men’s basketball team defeated Belmont Abbey 94-76 in Hickory on Tuesday.
Rob Fields scored a game-high 20 points to help the Indians (9-3) snap a three-game losing streak.
Cliff Burns (Davie) and Isaac Rose added 13 points each for the 14th-ranked Indians.
Catawba led by as many as 26 points early in the second half, but it got a scare when the Crusaders put together a 14-0 spurt to get within 12.
Catawba stopped the run and pulled away for a comfortable win.
Jonathan Jackson led Belmont Abbey (5-3) with 18 points.

Seventh-ranked Augusta State rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat Lenoir-Rhyne 82-74 in the other game of the doubleheader.
Senior guard Elliott McDowell scored 21 points for the Bears.
