25th anniversary cookbookMOCKSVILLE ó Davie County Senior Services is publishing a 25th anniversary cookbook filled with favorite recipes. It will include all categories of food from appetizers to desserts.
Please bring in your favorite recipes to the center (typed or printed off computer is preferred). Cookbooks will go on sale later in 2009.
PAD screenings
Free PAD screenings will be offered Friday, Jan. 9, from 8:30 to noon by appointment at Forsyth Cardiac and Vascular Center.
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is a serious condition that affects people as they age and drastically increases the risk of heart attack and stroke. Ladies, please do not wear hose as the monitoring device needs to be placed directly on the skin of the ankle.
Open to adults 55 and older and exceptions under the general participation policy.Town Hall meeting
There will be a Town Hall meeting Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 10:30 a.m. The speaker is Beth Dirks, the Davie County manager.
She will share what is happening in the county and what the future holds. She will also take questions from the audience.
These meetings are open to adults of all ages ó no children please.

Reverse mortgage seminar
A Reverse Mortgage seminar will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Farmington Site.
The seminar will be free and the speaker will be Larry Cordts of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
The seminar will provide important facts about reverse mortgages, which allow homeowners to use their home’s equity to fulfill financial needs.Winter preparedness
There will be a free meeting about winter preparedness, Thursday, Jan. 29, at 10:30 a.m. The speaker will be Jami Lawhon, from the Davie County Cooperative Extension Office. Come to learn about safety for the cold months.
The session is free. This qualifies for the Destination Fitness drawing.
