The annual meeting of the North Carolina Farm Bureau Federation was held Dec. 7-9 at the Sheraton Four Seasons and Joseph S. Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.
Rowan County Farm Bureau President Karlene Doby was recognized among her peers at the Presidents’ and Agents’ Luncheon. Farm Bureau President Larry Wooten presented each winning county president with a limited edition Case knife. Each county’s agency force worked hard to qualify their County President for this recognition.
Special plaques were also presented to the agents and agencies whose production was superior during the contest period.
Rockwell reunion
The Rockwell High School Class of 1948 met for its 60th class reunion Dec. 2 at Blue Bay Restaurant.
A social hour preceded the dinner. The group was entertained by class member Paul Hill on his guitar. He is an accomplished musician, having received many awards statewide. His wife, Lena, accompanied him on the keyboard.
Larry Taylor was the master of ceremonies and led a memorial service for deceased classmates.
Classmates in attendance included Larry Taylor and wife, Betty Jane, from Nashville, Tenn.; Betty Yelton Burrage and husband, Flynn, from Misenheimer.
Local classmates attending were Betty Eller Tutterow, Margaret Lyerly Alsobrooks, Katherine Wagnor Hampton, Betty Sides Beaver and husband Hugh, Wayne Morgan, David Huffman and wife Peggy, Roselyn Fisher Misenheimer, Lloyd Cornelius Hamilton, Lorie Lookabill Huffman and husband Raymond, Jackie Bost Taylor and husband Jack.
Guests were Jeane Poole and Elvray Eller Honeycutt, and special guest Jean Fisher McCombs, former teacher. Mrs. McCombs was presented a floral arrangement from the class.
1958 class reunion
The Granite Quarry High School class of 1958 held its 50th reunion Nov. 29 at Shiloh Reformed Church Community Building in Faith.

Genesis staff honors
The following staff members were honored at the annual Christmas luncheon with service pins for the years of dedication they have provided to the residents of Mooresville Center/Genesis HealthCare:

All staff members were thanked for their compassion and loyalty to the residents and their families.
Bridges celebration
Hugh Dorsey and Rachel Dean Bridges of Kannapolis are being honored today with a covered dish dinner with immediate family at their home to celebrate the couple’s 60th anniversary. Flowers are also being placed in their church in their honor today.
The Bridges met in Danielsville, Ga. and were married in Comer, Ga. on Aug. 9, 1948.
The Bridges’ children are Sandra Draughn and husband, Mike, and Kenny Bridges and wife, Renae. They also have four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Red Hats
The Chapeaux Rouge Divas met at Yarborough’s Restaurant in Lexington on Nov. 6 for their traditional Christmas dinner and gift exchange.
Doris Wilson presented the “Pass Around” game, also a tradition. Sisterhood permeated the evening ritual.
Joan R. Smith is queen mother.
Sara Owen is queen mother of the Classy Red Hats, who met at Bailey’s Restaurant in Salisbury mall on Nov. 21 for fellowship and good food.
Afterward, they were invited to the the lobby to see and buy Red Hat and custom jewelry by Born to Bead.
Rose of Sharon
Rose of Sharon no. 1, Order of Eastern Star Worthy Matron Cheryl Anderson, with Worthy Matron Elect S. Kay Grier and members began their holiday celebrations on Saturday, Dec. 6 by Christmas caroling at Brawley Commons-Genesis Healthcare Center, Julian Road, in Salisbury.
In addition to caroling to residents on two of the halls there, Christmas ornaments were placed on each of the doors and Christmas cards were given to each resident.
Candy canes were given to the nursing staff to present to some of the residents. One of the residents was given a special treat of ice cream. A resident who is 104 years old was presented with a poinsettia plant, two blankets and bootie socks.
They will be celebrating their annual Christmas program along with Eureka Lodge no. 45, A. & A.S.R. Masons Inc., Worshipful Master Jeffrey Roberts and members Thursday evening, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. at the J. C. Price American Legion Post on Wilkesboro Road as a continuation of giving to the community.
