Wood 64th Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin B. Wood celebrated 64 years of marriage with family and friends on Nov. 22, 2008, at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel McMahon.
Ms. Julia F. Slade married Mr. Marvin B. Wood Nov. 26, 1944, in York, S.C. The couple moved to Short Street in Salisbury in May 1947, where they still live.
The Woods are the parents of two sons and three daughters, including the late Mr. Marvin B. iBillyî Wood, Jr.; and Mr. Darrell L. (Teresea) Wood, Mrs. Rosalind (Arnold) Ramzan, Mrs. Constance (Nathaniel) McMahon and Ms. Deborah Wood.
They have five granddaughters, two great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. They also have one great-great-grandson, Lloyd N. Stockdale.
The Woods are very loyal to Jehovah God and his son, Jesus Christ. From your family with love and longevity.

Athey – Austin

KANNAPOLIS ó Christi Michelle Athey and Michael Benjamin Austin were married Nov. 8, 2008, at Charity Baptist Church. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. R.J. Hammond.
Attending were Matron of Honor and sister of the bride Amanda Eller and Maid of Honor Haley Orahood. Bridesmaids were Kylie Baucom, Misty Sarvis, Jill Kingston, Amy Brown and Mandy Moore.
Best Man was Father of the Groom. Groomsmen were brother of the groom Matthew Austin; Jason Wise, Andrew Austin, Tommy Sloop, Joshua Eller and Matt Marsh.
Christi is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Don and Jennifer Knox of China Grove and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Athey of Salisbury. A 1997 graduate of South Rowan High School, she has a degree in cosmetology and is self-employed in Salisbury.
Benji is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike and Kathy Austin of China Grove. A 1993 graduate of South Rowan High School, he has been employed by UPS of Kannapolis for 15 years.
Following a trip to the Dominican Republic, the couple are living in Salisbury ó Happily Ever After!

Kehr – Marczewski

Philipp and Karen Kehr of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Alisa Danyele Kehr, to Scott Robert Marczewski of New Bern.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Phyllis and the late Victor DiSanza of Donora, PA., and the late Philipp and Ruth Kehr of Walton, N.Y. A 1997 honor graduate of Salisbury High School, Alisa received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from North Carolina State University in 2001. She is the Operations and Compliance Specialist at Universal Meeting Management in Raleigh.
The future groom is the son of Donna and the late Edward Marczewski of Schenectady, N.Y., and the grandson of Lillian and the late Robert McNab of Schenectady, N.Y., and the late Casmir and Henrietta Marczewski of Schenectady, N.Y. A 1995 graduate of New Bern High School, Scott received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Appalachian State University in 1999. He is a Property Manager for Fairfield Residential in Raleigh.
The wedding will take place Feb. 28, 2009, at All Saints Chapel in Raleigh.

Link 60th Anniversary

Mary Lou Brintle Link and Junior R. Link celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 10, 2008. The Links were married Dec. 10, 1948, at the home of the bride in White Plains, N.C., by Rev. Woodrow Jones and Rev. Sam Jones, both uncles of the bride.
Junior worked for Southern Railroad, then owned and operated Link Egg and Poultry for 15-plus years and retired from Reid Link Construction Co. after 30 years of service. Mary Lou worked for Normans Drapery, Bernhardt Hardware, Link Egg and Poultry and retired as secretary for Reid Link Construction Co. in 1984.
The coupleís children are Reid Link, wife Debbie, of Salisbury and Mary Ann Moore, husband Eric, of Cleveland. They have two grandchildren, Stephen and Heather Link of Salisbury.
The Links celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Their 60th anniversary was celebrated with a special family dinner.
