Touring the Great Wolf Lodge as indoor waterpark resort prepares for spring opening

CONCORD ó Great Wolf Resorts welcomed some Charlotte-area leaders on a tour of the $100 million, 36-acre Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark, which is scheduled to open next spring.
The lodge near Concord Mills will be a family destination resort designed to capture the atmosphere and adventure of the northwoods.
“We are excited to open our doors to offer an exclusive first glance at the newest Great Wolf Lodge location as we look toward the spring 2009 grand opening,” said Phil Cunningham, general manager of Great Wolf Lodge.
The lodge will have more than 400 employees. A job fair will be held on Feb. 5-7 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Construction began in 2007 on the four-story, 475,000 square-foot indoor waterpark resort and conference center. More than 55 contractors are involved, including 22 North Carolina businesses.

The resort will feature an 80,000- square-foot indoor waterpark, with 11 waterslides and four pools. It has more than 400 guest suites with nine different configurations; 20,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space; an outdoor pool area; a fitness center; a gift emporium and convenience store.
Additional entertainment within the 98,000-square-foot-indoor entertainment area will include a spa, a themed 18-hole miniature golf course and an arcade with more than 100 video games and a prize center.
