Landon Harris made a jumper from the left baseline with 19 seconds left to lift Davie County’s boys to a 51-50 victory against visiting North Rowan on Tuesday night.North’s C.J. Fortson, who led the Cavaliers with 15 points, missed a contested jumper from deep in the left corner in the closing seconds.
North (0-2) led by as many as 14 points in the first half. It took a 33-21 advantage into the break, and Davie (2-2) trailed 45-36 going into the fourth quarter. The War Eagles held the Cavs to five fourth-quarter points.
Jamal Mayfield scored 10 of his team-high 14 points in the quarter.
“We defended better, and we rebounded much better in the fourth quarter,” Davie coach Mike Absher said. “Offensively, Jamal hit two 3s in transition and made another layup in transition. He did a real nice job for us.”
Harris finished with 13 points. Drew Absher added 11 points, five assists and two steals for the War Eagles.
D.J. Hipps and Lamonte Bell scored 10 points apiece for North.
