Staff reportA.L. Brown crushed Concord 56-6 and retained the Victory Bell at Bailey Stadium on Friday.
Brown scored the game’s first 21 points and its last 35 to produce the most lopsided victory in the history of the heated neighborhood rivalry.
Senior QB Jamill Lott rushed for 128 yards and threw for 93 to lead the Wonders (9-2, 7-1) who shared the SPC championship with Anson County, a blowout winner over Marvin Ridge on Friday.
Lott accounted for a career-high five scores, breaking two long runs and throwing TD passes to T.J. Johnson, Colby Reid and Zach Massey.
Travis Riley rushed for two TDs for the Wonders.
Josh Black and Chris Moore picked off passes to spark Brown’s defense.
Concord, which got 164 rushing yards from former Wonder Roger Smith, finished a dismal season at 3-7 and will miss the playoffs for the first time since the Wonders knocked them out of a playoff berth in the 1995 season finale.
Brown will learn its playoff matchup today.
