*Time: 7:30 p.m.
*Records: A.L. Brown 8-2, 6-1 SPC; Concord 3-6, 2-5 SPC
*Series: Concord holds a 38-35-4 edge in Bell games. It’s an even closer 39-37-4 overall as A.L. Brown has won two of three playoff meetings. The ornery neighbors have squared off every year since 1931.
*Last meeting: Wonders rolled 45-25 behind QB Jonathan Efird at Memorial Stadium in 2007.
*Last week: Wonders crushed Porter Ridge 52-0; Concord was stuffed 14-0 by Parkwood.
*Next week: Brown is headed for the 3AA playoffs. Concord’s done unless something amazing happens tonight at Bailey Stadium.nHome and road splits: Wonders are 3-2 on the road; Concord is 2-2 at home
*Scoring: Wonders have outscored the Spiders 328-169.
*Defense: Wonders have allowed 149 points, and the Spiders have permitted 296.
*Game notes: Counting the forfeit victory it was awarded in 2001, Brown has beaten the Spiders six times in coach Ron Massey’seight seasons. It will be man-bites-dog stuff if the Wonders don’t make it seven out of nine tonight.
Brown is playing for a conference championship. A win gives the Wonders a share of the SPC title. If Anson falters against Marvin Ridge, the Wonders can win it outright.Concord has lost four in a row and just hasn’t been able to regroup since it was destroyed 51-14 by Sun Valley on Oct. 10. The Spiders, who are starting numerous sophomores, haven’t scored the past two weeks, and they’re facing a hungry, talented defensive group tonight.
Brown’s defense, which includes Dominique Phifer, has allowed one TD in its last three outings. Scott Jordan, the hero of the 1990 Bell Game, is one of Brown’s assistants.
