COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – Tommy Bowden is out as Clemson’s football coach.
An athletic department official says Bowden has stepped down, with the team 3-3 and just off a 12-7 loss to Wake Forest. Bowden is in his 10th season at Clemson.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press on Monday because an announcement has not been made.
Clemson started the season ranked No. 9 and was picked to win the conference.
Neither Bowden nor athletic director Terry Don Phillips immediately returned calls. The school said it would hold a news conference Monday evening
