Drue Davis finished at 152 for two rounds and won the McCanless Golf Club Championship on Sunday.
Mike Gilb shot 159, finished second in the Championship Flight and also was crowned the club’s senior champion.
Ron Blythe shot 166 to win the First Flight. Matt Murphy also shot 166.
Gary Bostian shot 174 to win the Second Flight. Frank Ford finished second at 180.
n Catawba soccer
Catawba’s men’s soccer team lost to Carson-Newman 4-0 on Saturday.
Catawba is 3-9 overall and 1-3 in the SAC.
n College football
Appalachian State’s Billy Riddle (Davie County) made eight tackles in a 35-24 victory against Samford on Saturday. Gordy Witte (Salisbury) made one tackle for the Mountaineers.
n Free safety Justin McCauley (A.L. Brown) made seven tackles for Averett in a 31-17 victory against Methodist on Saturday. Josh Eury (East Rowan) started at left guard for Averett.
n Zac O’Brien (Davie) made two tackles for Lenoir-Rhyne in a 35-27 loss against Wingate on Saturday.
Cam LeGrand (NW Cabarrus) started on the offensive line for Wingate.
n Yancey Fields (Salisbury) started at right tackle for Livingstone in a 41-20 loss against Chowan on Saturday.
n D.J. Rice (Davie) made 11 tackles for Coastal Carolina in a 47-20 loss against VMI on Saturday.
Coastal’s Ben Erdman (West Rowan) punted three times for a 40.7 average, with a long of 50 yards. Ryan Boehm (Davie) started at center for the Chanticleers.
n Catawba’s Julian Samolu (West) made five tackles in Saturday’s 21-14 loss against Carson-Newman.
Aaron Cauble (East) blocked a punt that resulted in a Catawba touchdown.
n College soccer
Defender Drew Griffith (Salisbury) has a goal and an assist while starting 12 games for Greensboro College this season.
n College cross country
Tommy Wilson (North Rowan) finished 13th and helped St. Andrews win the Belmont Abbey Invitational.
n Olivia Jacobs (South Rowan) was SAC Runner of the Week when she broke the school record on a fast course at Limestone.
Jacobs has finished eighth, sixth, first and second in four meets.
n College golf
Virginia’s Will Collins (Salisbury) has a stroke average of 73.6 after three tournaments, with a low of 70.
n Lauren Smith (Salisbury) shot 87 for UNC Greensboro in the first round of the UNCG-Starmount Fall Classic on Sunday.
n East YMCA programs
The East Rowan YMCA is taking registrations for basketball programs until October 25.
n Little Shooters Basketball is an introduction to the game for youngsters and teaches sportsmanship as well as skills. Little Shooters is for ages 4-6.
n The girls basketball program teaches fundamentals, principles and skills. Leagues are for grades 2-8 and ages 7-14. Practice begins Nov. 1. Season begins Nov. 15.
n Junior Bobcats
Salisbury Parks & Recreation Department is holding registration for its Junior Bobcat Boys Basketball League through October 17.
The league is for boys ages 7-15 and registration can be made at Hall Gym. Fee is $35 for city residents and $70 for non-residents.

n Pfeiffer clinic
The 10th Annual Pfeiffer Basketball Clinic is Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 9-4 at Merner Gym.
The cost is $40. Instruction is by Pfeiffer coaches and players.
Campers receive individual instruction, a free T-shirt, a season pass to all Falcon basketball games and free lunch. There will be competitions for prizes.
