CHARLOTTE ó Carolina Panthers strong safety Chris Harris has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Minnesota.
Harris was held out of practice Friday with tightness in his thigh, but had practiced the rest of the week.
Harris has helped spark the unbeaten Panthers to two victories this season. He has two forced fumbles this season, both leading to touchdowns in wins over San Diego and Chicago.
Several other players also are listed as questionable.
Ruled out for Sunday’s game are starting left guard Travelle Wharton with a sprained MCL in his knee and third-string quarterback Matt Moore with a knee injury. Ryne Robinson is listed as doubtful.
SAINTSNEW ORLEANS ó The “piano man,” Joey Harrington, has landed a new gig in the birthplace of jazz. He’ll be playing third fiddle behind Saints starting quarterback Drew Brees and backup Mark Brunell.
Harrington signed with the Saints and participated in his first practice Friday at the team’s suburban training center, a day before the Saints were set to leave for Sunday’s game at Denver.
BARNETT’S APPEAL
GREEN BAY, Wis. ó Packers linebacker Nick Barnett said Friday he would appeal the second fine he received in as many weeks from the NFL.
Barnett was fined $7,500 earlier this week for a helmet-to-helmet contact on a hit of Detroit quarterback Jon Kitna in the last game.
“I know they’re trying to protect the players, but at the same time, we’re trying to play football,” Barnett said. “Do I think mine is an official fine? I don’t think I hit him hard enough with my helmet.”
– GREEN BAY, Wis. ó The Green Bay Packers should be in good shape for their Sunday night game against Dallas, listing running back Ryan Grant and cornerback Charles Woodson as probable on the injury report.
JAGUARSJACKSONVILLE, Fla. ó Jaguars receiver Jerry Porter likely will miss a third consecutive game Sunday at Indianapolis.
Although Porter (hamstring) was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report, coach Jack Del Rio said he doesn’t believe the team’s top offseason free-agent acquisition will play against the Colts.
CHARGERSSAN DIEGO ó LaDainian Tomlinson returned to practice in a limited role Friday and is listed as questionable for the San Diego Chargers’ game against the New York Jets on Monday.
BROWNSCLEVELAND ó Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards was limited in practice Friday and listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Baltimore.
