On Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. D.C. and The Chosen Few with special guest Jack Kee will be performing at High Rock Boat and Ski Club east of Salisbury at 2675 Providence Church Road on High Rock Lake.
D.C. and The Chosen Few is made up of seasoned musicians who play a variety of music including classic country, beach, “ole time rock & roll” and some bluegrass. The Chosen Few plays weekly at health care facilities and benefits but also pride themselves as a Nashville legend back-up band performing with some of Nashville’s stars such as George Hamilton IV, Jack Greene, Candi Carpenter and prior shows with the late Grandpa Jones and Don Helms (the steel guitarist for Hank Williams Sr.).
Darrell Connor appeared on stage at the LJVM Coliseum in 1992 and was guest of George Hamilton IV and Randy Owen on the Grand Ole Opry in October of 2006.
The name “Chosen Few” came from a good friend of Connor’s, Jeff Cook with the group Alabama. Cook had a band prior to Alabama called “J.C. & The Chosen Few.”Connor recently attended an event in Nashville, Tenn., with Vince Gill, Ray Price, John Thomas Connelly, Jeff Golden (Oakridge Boys), Hank Williams Jr., Cal Smith, Jeannie Pruitt and several other country music stars.
You may recognize several of the members from a group in the mid ’80s to the late ’90s by the name of Hot Pursuit that played the same style of music as D.C. and The Chosen Few.
