Faith Idol winner
Megan Braun of Salisbury was the winner in the 12 and under age division at this year’s Faith Idol vocal competition held during the 4th of July Celebration in Faith.
Megan, a rising sixth-grader at North Rowan Middle School, sang “Our Song.” Her parents are Laura and David Braun. Megan is a third-year student with Marc Hoffman at the Salisbury School of Music.
Yawn Patrol
Yawn Patrol Zone Toastmasters met July 15 at United Cabarrus Insurance. June Pryor was Toastmaster for the evening. Insook Lee was voted Best Table Topics, Toni Stovall was voted Best Speaker and Ken Miller was voted Best Evaluator.Anette Powell, Area 34 Governor for Toastmasters installed officers for ‘2008-09.
Ann Carroll was installed as president; Lisa Fowler, vice president of education; Mike Craig, vice president of membership; Ken Miller, vice president of public relations; the Rev. Jeff Hoffner, secretary/ treasurer, and Ken Carroll, sergeant at arms.
Insook Lee and Charlene Deese were welcomed as guests.
Red Hats
On Friday, July 18, Classy Red Hat Society met and ate Italian cuisine at Il Colosseo Restaurant on Jake Alexander Blvd. The birthdays of four “ladies in red” were celebrated. Sara Owen is queen mother.
On July 8, the Chapeaux Rouge Divas enjoyed lunch at Miss Ruby’s Tea House Restaurant in Lexington and went shopping at the Lexington Goodwill store. Queen mother is Joan R. Smith.
