Staff report
North Rowan has hired Tasker Fleming to lead the school’s proud football program.
Fleming replaces Avery Cutshaw, who was relieved of his duties in early June. Cutshaw took over as the head coach at North in 2002 and went 38-35 in six seasons.
Fleming was also employed at the beginning of June, but he resigned after two seasons as North Davidson’s head coach. The Dispatch of Lexington reported that West Mecklenburg offered its opening to Fleming earlier this summer, but he pulled his name out of the running.
Fleming, 44, had coached at Northern Vance for two years before North Davidson hired him to replace Mark Holcomb in 2006. Holcomb is back in charge of the Black Knights.
North Davidson, a 4A school in nearby Welcome, went 3-8 in 2006. It opened last season with seven straight wins before finishing with a 7-5 mark.
A more comprehensive story on Fleming will appear in a future edition of the Post.
