Swimming: RAC totals 21 firsts

The Rowan Aquatic Club swam well in the team’s second home meet of the season on April 19.
RAC came away with 21 first-place finishes, 17 seconds and 18 thirds against teams from Winston Salem and Statesville. A total of 98 swimmers ranging from ages 4-to-18 took part.
Among the first-place finishes, one of the RAC records was smashed by over eight seconds in the 8-under girls 100 freestyle relay by the team of Kathryn Morrison, Sharmi Amin, Kayla Tennant, and Caroline Cody. The record was originally set 7 years ago.
Another standout swimmer was East Rowan junior Tanner Lowman, who qualified for the Long Course YMCA Nationals to be held at the University of Maryland at the end of the summer. Lowman qualified in the 50 breaststroke and the 50 butterfly.
Also placing first were Keelan Lemmon, Kayla Tennant, Cody Dollarhide, Brandon Ralston, Ashley Schofield and Will Stokes.
Placing second were Kendra Sharp, Ethan Knorr and Lee Gariepy.
Third-place finishes were recorded byRoshen Amin, Kathryn Morrison, Michaela Lemmon and Hailey Bartleson.
