NCAA: ëNew informationí in Mayo case

HOUSTON ó Saying the NCAA has inew information,î president Myles Brand promised to investigate former Southern California basketball star O.J. Mayo, who allegedly received thousands of dollars in gifts from money given to an event promoter by a sports agency.
On Sunday, ESPN reported that Bill Duffy Associates provided Rodney Guillory with about $200,000 before Mayo arrived at USC. Louis Johnson, a former associate of Mayoís, told iOutside the Linesî that Mayo received about $30,000 and other benefits from Guillory while in high school and during his one season at USC.
Mayo declared for the NBA draft after the season and hired BDA Sportsí Calvin Andrews as his agent.
Brand, speaking Tuesday in Houston to kick off this weekís Division II National Championships Festival, said that iour enforcement division has new informationî about Mayoís case iand as a matter of fact, when we have new information on any case, we will investigate.î
n COLUMBIA, S.C. ó The first game for new South Carolina coach Darrin Horn will come in Europe.
The school said the team will spend more than a week overseas in August playing games in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria.

NEW YORK ó Al Horford and Rookie of the Year Kevin Durant headlined the NBA All-Rookie team announced Tuesday.
Atlantaís Horford was the only unanimous choice with 58 votes, followed by Seattleís Durant with 57 in balloting by the leagueís coaches.
Houstonís Luis Scola (53), Los Angeles Clippers forward Al Thornton (48) and Seattleís Jeff Green (43) also made the first team.
The All-Rookie second team was Torontoís Jamario Moon, Memphisí Juan Carlos Navarro, Philadelphiaís Thaddeus Young, Detroitís Rodney Stuckey and Houstonís Carl Landry.
