National briefs: Djokovic rallies for win in Rome

ROME ó Novak Djokovic won the 10th title of his career, rallying Sunday to defeat Stanislas Wawrinka 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the Rome Masters.
* BERLIN ó Dina Safina pulled off her third upset of a top-10 player in a week at the German Open, winning the title by beating ninth-ranked Elena Dementieva 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
The 17th-ranked Safina also beat No. 1 Justine Henin and No. 8 Serena Williams.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
BOONE ó Andrew Franco hit a two-run triple in sixth inning to lead Appalachian State to a 4-2 win over Furman.
Furman (29-20, 15-9 SoCon) broke its school-record 13-game winning streak in the loss to Appalachian State (29-23, 13-11).
* CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. ó A two-run single by Jeremy Farrell gave Virginia a 5-4 lead over North Carolina in the bottom of the sixth inning before heavy rains suspended play and eventually forced an end to a weather-shortened game.
Kyle Seager hit his 25th double for UNC (42-9, 20-6 ACC) to tie the schoolís single-season record.
* COLLEGE PARK, Md. ó N.C. State had four big frames in a 17-8 rout of Maryland.
The Wolfpack (35-16, 17-9) scored four runs in the third, six in the fourth, three in the sixth and three in the seventh.
* WINSTON-SALEM ó Mike Murray hit a three-run homer as Wake Forest beat Duke 9-4. The Demon Deacons (22-27, 11-15) are one win away from clinching a berth in the ACC tournament.
