James now an assistant

Associated Press
DURHAM ó Former Duke player Nate James was hired as an assistant by coach Mike Krzyzewski on Tuesday.
Also, Krzyzewski promoted assistants Steve Wojciechowski and Chris Collins to associate head coaches.”I am excited about the staff we have put together,” Krzyzewski said. “Steve and Chris are outstanding coaches. They are both well deserving and prepared for their new roles.”
James helped the Blue Devils win their most recent national championship in 2001. He played on two Final Four squads, scoring 1,116 points from 1996-2001 on teams that went 71-9 in ACC regular-season games.
James was in charge of Duke’s program operations at the new practice facility.
“Nate is a great addition to our staff,” Krzyzewski said. “He was a valuable member of our program as a player and will be an asset as an assistant coach. His maturity, toughness and dedication to Duke will blend well with the current staff we have in place. I look forward to watching Nate develop and prosper in this role.”
Longtime assistant Johnny Dawkins left Duke recently to take the head coaching job at Stanford.
