Dole Committee files first-quarter report
The Elizabeth Dole Committee filed Wednesday a first-quarter report for 2008 showing the U.S. senator’s re-election campaign raised $1,850,000 and will have $3,150,000 cash on hand.
During the first quarter, more than 24,000 donors contributed more than 30,500 donations.
The average donation was $61. A campaign press release said Dole now has “a grass-roots base” of donors that exceeds 40,000 people.
Campaign Manager J. Sam Daniels said, “We are very excited about the large fundraising foundation Sen. Dole is establishing for the election. More than 13,000 new donors joined the Dole Team in just the past 106 days.”
Dole, whose campaign is based in her hometown of Salisbury, faces Pete Di Lauro of Weldon in the May 6 Republican primary.
