Seven-year milestone
Comfort Keepers, a non-medical, in-home companion care service, celebrated its seventh year in Rowan County on March 15 along with a consistent ranking in the Top 15 locations in the southeast.
“In the past seven years, we have been focused on providing dependable and compassionate caregiving services to families throughout Rowan and the surrounding areas,” said Lori Eberly, owner. “It is only natural that people want to stay in their own homes; whether they are a senior who needs assistance or someone who is recovering from an illness or injury.
“Our growth over the past few years has been phenomenal and beyond what I ever anticipated when I started this business seven years ago. The need for personal caregivers throughout the United States is greater today then at any other point in history. An increasing amount of families are facing the overwhelming responsibility of caring for aging loved ones, and I am honored to be in a position to make a difference in their lives,” she said.
Eberly attributes her success to her dedicated team of professionals, which include 10 administrative staff members and more than 125 caregivers. She has a master’s degree in health administration and is a professional geriatric care manager and certified senior adviser. Burns to speak May 1
Chad Burns will speak on “How to Become Your Own Bank” at the May 1 meeting of the Metrolina Real Estate Investor Association Concord-Area Subgroup.
Burns and his wife are full-time real estate investors who also work with United First Financial, which has a program to reduce a 30-year mortgage down to 8-15 years with no refinancing. He’ll explain how to apply this as an investor, making it possible to be “the bank” for yourself and other investors.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at McCabe’s Steakhouse, 316 Brookdale St., Kannapolis.

Jingle contest winner
Karla Causey of Statesville is the winner of this year’s Harris Teeter jingle contest. She will receive $10,000 and will be featured in a Harris Teeter commercial.
Causey recorded the Harris Teeter jingle in a professional studio. A team of judges reviewed all entries before announcing her as the winner. A North Carolina native, she describes her style of music as a smooth blend of folk, blues and country.
She will star in a Harris Teeter commercial scheduled to air during the season finale of American Idol.
“Winning the Harris Teeter jingle contest couldn’t have come at a better time,” she said. “I am going to use the $10,000 to build a platform that will allow me to bring more exposure to my music.”
The contest is an extension of the campaign developed during the fall of 2005. The lyrics of the jingle reflect the ownership shoppers take in Harris Teeter.
