Red Hats
Seventeen members of the Silver Queen Strollers enjoyed lunch recently at the home of Jessie Childers, vice queen mother, catered by her son Lonnie. It was also the birthday of April Hawkins, who helped organize the group.
On Feb. 9, seven members of the group were in the Martin Luther King Parade. They were sponsored by Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home.
In February, the Red Hatters attended the Afro American Breakfast at Rufty- Holmes sponsored by Kennedy Realty and Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home.
In March, the Red Hatters will go to Woods of South Charlotte, restaurant of famous T.V. Chef Marvin Woods of “Home Plate,” celebrating the birthday of Queen Mother Evelyn Clayborn and Elnora Woods, mother of Marvin Woods.
Yawn Patrol
Yawn Patrol Zone Toastmasters met Feb. 5 at United Cabarrus Insurance offices. Ken Carroll was toastmaster for the evening.Table topics winner was Ken Carroll. Ann Boone-Carroll was voted Best Speaker and Ken Miller was voted Best Evaluator. Helen Leak was welcomed as a visitor.
